My mom and dad have been considering raising chickens.  With the help of the book “Backyard Chickens: Beyond The Basics” they have decided it’s a great idea.  They went out today, to pick up 6 chicks.  They will start raising the chicks in the house, until they grow their feathers, then move them to outside.  Anyway, the book is great with a lot of great information, that my dad never knew, even though he was raised on a farm.
