150 Best Toaster Oven Recipes ~ You need this book

Posted on July 19, 2018 in 2018 Back To School Gift Guide recipes

I love the 150 Best Toaster Oven Recipes cookbook, by Linda Stephen.  It’s got so many great recipes for my Toaster Oven.  I love trying new recipes, so this book has really brought some new recipes to light.  This book is brand new, just coming out.  And, already my family loves it.

I made Oatmean Cinnamon French Toast in the Toaster oven the other day.  It was so delicious, and crispy.  My 7 year old loved it.  My next thing to try is the Meatloaf.  Yes, a meatloaf, in a toaster oven.  I can’t wait to make more and more.  Less clean up, because not so many pots and pans.

Check out these tidbits:

  • Toaster ovens are capable of making full meals – functioning both a toaster and a full-size oven while using way less space and way less energy
  • Wide-ranging recipes to allow the space and energy-saving toaster over to be used for so much more than just toasting
  • 150 easy and delicious recipes specifically designed for the toaster oven and brand-new “basics” section
  • Perfect for students, singles, and the elderly – all popular markets for the appliance
  • Toaster oven sales are up 80% since 2000; in 2016, approximately 8.1 million toaster ovens were sold across retail channels in the United States
  • 150 recipes including 25+ new market-demanded basic recipes that are easy to prepare, with clear instructions

This cookbook will keep you busy for a long time.  Especially if you have a Toaster Oven.  I loved my toaster oven, and now I love it more.

May 18 is National Cheese Souffle Day

Posted on May 4, 2018 in recipes

PERFECT FOR THE WARM SUMMER EVENINGS

Depending on what ingredients you use, the Soufflé can be served both as a savory main dish or sweetened as a dessert. Here we’ve combined this French classic with a tangy lemon vinaigrette and a fresh tomato and watermelon salad which makes it perfect as an appetizer or main course, preferably enjoyed outdoors on one of those warm summer evenings.

Ingredients

JARLSBERG® CHEESE SOUFFLÉ

1 cup milk

2 dried bay leaves

2 shallots, finely chopped

4 small ramekins

Baking paper

1 cup butter

4 tbsp. plain flour

salt

1 pinch cayenne pepper

1 tbsp. Dijon mustard

1 cup grated Jarlsberg® cheese

5 eggs with the whites and yolks separated

Jarlsberg® cheese for the topping

WATER MELON SALAD

watermelon

1 cup tomatoes

1 cup hazelnuts, roasted

1 lime

1 orange

2 cups olive oil

MAKES 4 PORTIONS

TO MAKE THE SOUFFLE

Pre-heat the oven to 400 °F. In a pan, heat the milk, bay leaves and shallot until boiling. Remove the pan from the heat and let the contents rest for 20 minutes. Grease the inside of the ovenproof ramekins.

The soufflé mixture will rise quite high, so don’t overfill the ramekins. Melt the butter in a pan and stir in the flour.

Cook, stirring, for 1 min.

Strain the rested milk mixture, and gradually whisk it into the butter and flour mixture.

Cook over a low heat, stirring constantly, until the mixture thickens.

Remove from the heat. Stir in mustard, salt, cayenne pepper and grated Jarlsberg® cheese. Then stir the egg yolks into the mixture. Whisk the egg whites until stiff and gently fold them into the mixture, a little at a time. Divide the mixture between the greased ramekins.

Sprinkle a little extra Jarlsberg® cheese on top, if desired. Bake on the bottom shelf of the oven for 20-25 minutes until the soufflés are golden and well risen. They should be slightly soft in the middle. Slice the tomatoes and melon.

Make the vinaigrette by whisking the juice of the lime and the orange together with the oil and mixing well. Add salt and pepper to taste. Serve the soufflés immediately after they are taken out of the oven.

Serve with the tomato and watermelon salad garnished with roasted hazelnuts and with the vinaigrette.

5 Ingredient Air Fryer Recipes

Posted on March 24, 2018 in 2018 Easter Gift Guide recipes Reviews

First of all, I never knew there were so many recipes for the Air Fryer.  I love everything I’ve made, to this point.  And, I plan on making a lot more.  Did you know, for instance, that you can put a potato in the air fryer?  I didn’t know it!  But 5 Ingredient Fryer Recipes has taught me a lot.

If I’m being totally honest, I never put oil, of any kind, in my air fryer. I do every recipe without it. I know this may sound weird, but it’s supposed to be air frying, not deep frying. I’ve never used oil in my air fryer, and I’ve had it for approximately 2 years.

There are over 200 Delicious and Easy Meal Ideas including Gluten Free and Vegan choices.  Isn’t this fantastic?

All of the recipes in this collection require no more than five ingredients (excluding salt, pepper, water and cooking spray), and most can be fully prepared in just 15 to 20 minutes. Each recipe is unique, designed exclusively for the air fryer and downright delectable. The results are every bit as irresistible as higher-fat options — perhaps even more so.

I’m telling you that whether you are new to your Air Fryer, or you’ve had it for years, you will love this cook book.

So, here’s the ingredients for Hard Cooked Eggs:

6 Eggs

Ice Water

To see what to do next, just pick up this cookbook. And, it would make a great gift for Easter too, if you know someone that has an air fryer.

Check out Explore Cuisine, it’s delicious

Posted on December 10, 2017 in recipes Reviews

We tried Explore Cuisine for the first time, the other night.  It’s so delicious!  My mother in law made it, and we didn’t tell our husband’s what it was.  They just thought it was normal noodles, but it was designer noodles.

The Rice Pasta was quite yummy.  It had a great taste, and no after taste.  In other words, when I was done eating, I didn’t have to worry about the taste left behind.  The Red Rice Macaroni was so good, I went back for seconds.  I never eat seconds.  I just couldn’t get enough.  And, there were no left overs, which says a lot because we usually have leftovers.

These pastas are Gluten Free and Organic.

We just took the Rice Pasta and put some butter over it.  It was delicious without all those added things.  We could taste it, plain as day, and it was so yummy.

My sister tried the black bean spaghetti, and she said it was just as good as the rice pasta.  She said she used a recipe on Explore Cuisine’s website.

While exploring the Far East, our Founder, Joe Spronz, had a light-bulb moment! With new health trends and dietary needs on the rise, why not create a healthy, bean-based pasta that everyone’s been craving? With a single idea to reinvent the pasta industry and inspiration from the soybean noodles he discovered on his trip to China, Joe made his way back to the United States to begin production; the Explore Cuisine brand was born!
