This Frugal Family

Freaky Friday is an excellent movie, about a mom and daughter that switch places, to see inside each other’s lives.  It’s great hilarity, with warm thoughts.  This truly is an excellent movie.  It’s been remade since the original, but this is still one of my favorites. I’m going to be watching this Disney flick over and over.  I love it, that much.  I mean, I can remember being 16 and thinking my mom didn’t understand, and now I’m the mom, and know my daughter doesn’t understand.  So, when I watch Freaky Friday, it puts my life into perspective, lol.  A contemporary musical update of the classic comedic story, “Freaky Friday” is based on Disney Theatrical Productions’ stage adaptation of the celebrated novel by Mary Rodgers. Sixteen-year-old Ellie Blake and her uber-organized mom Katherine, are constantly at odds about Ellie’s messy room, sloppy clothes and seemingly careless attitude. Ellie really misses her dad who passed away a few years ago; she bickers with her younger brother and argues with Katherine who’s getting ready to marry her fiancé, Mike – tomorrow.  As mother and daughter quarrel, they accidentally break the treasured hourglass given to Ellie by her father and then, suddenly, they…

Mickey’s Found Sounds is a great Storybook, that you can interact with online. Mickey’s Found Sounds says 4+ on the cover, but my son is 6, and loves it.  He’ll be going to the first grade, and he’s really into the book reading to him, online.  I’ve never seen him so excited.  When it comes to this book, he drops everything, and runs to the iPad, to hear the book read to him.  There are also Sing Along and Activities options.  Jacob usually chooses the read along, though, because he’s reading with the book. Disney Learning books are so much fun, for kids Jacob’s age.  There are also Moana & Tangled books to choose from.  But, since I have a boy, I chose to get the Mickey’s Found Sounds A Musical Exploration Storybook.  I couldn’t have picked a better book.  I’ve been collecting books, for Jacob, since he was born.  And, this is the best book I could’ve picked.  It’s the only one that will read to him, and at his pace.  All he has to do is watch the screen, and the pages flip, and the story is read.
