Go Organically for After School Activity Snacks

Posted on October 28, 2018 in 2018 Back To School Gift Guide

We love Go Organically, in our home.  Whether it be for a snack, or an After School Activity Snack, it is just as delicious.  My 7 year old will eat them, like they are going out of style.  My 21 year old loves them too.  With Go Organically, you can’t go wrong.  And, they are a healthy snack as well.

Go Organically has some great tips for you, for the school season, just keep reading below:

School’s back in session—and so are after-school activities! From soccer to singing to scouting, there’s certainly no shortage of kid-centric extracurricular programs where you can spend your time and hard-earned cash. But how do you know which ones are right for your kid? We’re here to help you find out!

Gauge Their Interests

The best activity for your kid is the one they’re interested in. Older kids are likely to be drawn to what their friends are trying. Toddlers and younger kids may have trouble articulating what they want to try, but there are sure to be clues to look out for. Are they constantly running around? Maybe soccer would be a good fit. Do they like to bop along to the radio in the car? Perhaps they’d appreciate a music class.

Consider Their Personality

Have a shy kid who hides behind mama when meeting new people? An acting class probably isn’t the best idea. As tempting as it can be to use activities to help break kids out of their shell, it’s best to stick with classes that align with a kid’s authentic spirit. The more comfortable they are, the more confident they’ll be—which will hopefully lead to a willingness to try new things later on.

  • Individual Activities

Independent-minded kids tend to enjoy individual sports, such as gymnastics, tennis, dance or martial arts. Non-sport options could include private lessons in music or art. Benefits of these types of activities include building self-esteem, motor skills and attention/focus.

  • Group Activities

Socially-minded kids often prefer the camaraderie of team sports, such as soccer, basketball or hockey. Non-sport options could include scouting troops or theater arts. These types of activities emphasize teamwork, communication and discipline.

Take Advantage of Free Trial Classes

Once you’ve narrowed down your options, see if you can “try before you buy” with a free trial class. Many program facilitators understand that kids can be finicky creatures, with a passion for tap one day and taekwondo the next. And it’s a good idea to decide as a family before the program starts whether you’ll let your kiddo quit before the session is over if they don’t enjoy it or ask them to stick it out to the end to honor their commitment.

Think About Your Schedule

How many activities are too many? Well, that depends on the family and the child. Some kids have the interest and energy to take a bunch of different classes while others may feel overscheduled and stressed. Budget and work timetables can also be a factor. Only you can know what’s right for your family, so trust your gut and enjoy the ride!

When shuttling kids around to activities, be sure to take along Go Organically Organic Fruit Snacks. Made with real fruit and no artificial colors, our gluten-free, nut-free, dairy-free kids snacks are individually packaged for on-the-go convenience. Tips on How to Raise a Lifelong Reader + SWEEPSTAKES!

Posted on August 23, 2018 in 2018 Back To School Gift Guide Giveaways

As parents, we know that instilling a love of reading in our kids is one of the most important things we can do. Reading exercises the brain, improves concentration, reduces stress, sparks imagination and even helps develop empathy. Plus, it can become a lifelong habit that provides a whole lot of FUN for your family. So in honor of #NationalBookLoversDay on August 9, we’ve put together some great tips to help parents inspire the next generation of bookworms.

Start Early

*         Research shows that it’s never too early to start enjoying books with your little one. Reading aloud to your newborn is a great way to introduce words while soothing baby with the sound of your voice. Older babies will start to associate words and sounds with pictures, getting them on the path to reading right from the start. Plus cuddling up with a book is the perfect way to bond!

Ready, Set, Reward

*         Try using a reading log or reward chart to encourage older kids who are starting to read on their own. Jot down the title of each book they read, or tally the number of pages and celebrate with an ice cream cone or a family picnic when they reach a predetermined total. Stickers work great, too! Some schools host reading challenges of their own, and most local libraries offer summer reading programs with a similar reward system.

Seek Out Literary Events

*         Make reading part of your family’s everyday entertainment by attending kid-friendly events. Hit up story time at your local library, or go to an author signing at your neighborhood bookstore. Shop your school’s book fair together or visit a used bookstore to hunt for forgotten treasures as a family. The idea is to associate books with fun memories and quality time.

Take a Listen

*         Audiobooks are gaining in popularity-and for good reason! They’re made for multitasking by allowing you to get immersed in a story while you’re otherwise occupied with household tasks like cooking or cleaning. They’re also great for road trips<http://goorganicallysnacks.com/road-trip-survival-guide/>! Get invested in a classic as a family by listening to a family-friendly title in regular installments. Try an app or subscription service, or even borrow books on CD from your local library.

Follow Their Interests

*         Although you might be tempted to steer your kids towards educational books, let them choose subjects that capture their imagination. By encouraging your child’s passions-whether it’s superheroes, animals or even their favorite animated character-they’ll be more likely to stick to the habit of reading and eventually expand to other subject areas.

Happy reading from all of us at Go Organically Organic Fruit Snacks<http://goorganicallysnacks.com/products/>. Made with real fruit, our gluten-free, nut-free, dairy-free kids snacks are a great accompaniment to your kid’s favorite book. Toss them in their backpack and off they go! Back To School Snacks for Lunch or Before Bed

Posted on August 20, 2017 in 2017 Back To School Gift Guide Reviews women

Lunch Time Made Easy

The brands, that were sent to me, are all great.  I’ve never been so happy to receive a package, for my 6 year old son, as I was to receive this package.  School hasn’t quite started yet, but I know he loves these snacks now, so I’ll be picking them up, when we go to the grocery store.

Welch’s new Fruit Rolls went over very well, with Jacob.  He loves anything Welch’s so when I offered him a fruit roll, he immediately took it.  He said, “Mommy, this is so good”.  So, I will be putting one of these Fruit Rolls in his lunch every day.

Fruit is the first ingredient in these Fruit Rolls.  That’s a huge thing with us.  We want Jacob to eat healthy, being that he has a couple heart issues.

Go Organically has been a favorite of Jacob’s for a while.  These fruit snacks are delicious.  The best part, you can get a coupon from their site.  Your littles will love Go Organically, as much as my Jacob does.  He always asks for them, by name.

Details of Go Organically can be found on the right side of their page, here.  Including Gluten Free, GMO Free, and USDA Organic.

My 20 year old, daughter, loves The Little Kernel.  She will put it in baggies, and take it to class, at College, with her.  She says that way she’s not making noise opening the bag, and she can portion control.  So I put some in a baggie for Jacob, and he went nuts.  He loves The Little Kernel, just as much as his big sister.  I’ll be sending this in his lunch, too.

You can read “What’s Inside” The Little Kernel, here.

We also received some awesome drinks.

I LOVE Sparkling Ice, and now they have 8 oz cans.  This will be great to send in lunches.  Sarah said she can take it in her book bag, and open between classes.  Ice has been a favorite of ours for a while.  I just couldn’t drink one of those plastic containers though.  There’s so much in there.  These little portion sized Sparkling Ice are great.  The regular bottles have so many flavors, you will definitely find one you love.

For the first time, I got to try Brooklyn Organics.  It’s also a great drink.  It’s a craft Ginger Ale, and Jacob was just sick the other day.  We gave him Brooklyn Organics to sip, and he loved it.  He’s not big on Ginger Ale, but he did say it had a “super” taste to it.

Then, there’s Aqua Ball.  My daughter loves Ariel, and you can get the Disney Characters on the Aqua Ball.  She says it’s delicious, but she also likes the Princesses, so this is a 2 for 1 deal.

Aqua Ball naturally flavored water is the only zero-sugar, zero-calorie, zero-preservative children’s beverage around. Available in four flavors and featuring fan favorite Disney and Marvel characters, AquaBall is not only fun for kids, but also smart for parents.

Check out all of the products websites listed above.  You will love that packing lunch just got easier.

Host an Outdoor Movie Night

Posted on July 24, 2017 in parties

There’s something so magical about watching a movie under the stars—and summer is the perfect time to do it! So round up the kids, grab your friends, and get ready to enjoy some food, fun and flicks in your very own backyard cinema.

1.Prepare Your Backyard Theater

First, the logistics. Scout the perfect spot to show your movie and gather up the proper equipment. You’ll need three basic things: a projector, a screen, and a laptop with speakers.

  • Projector: Buy, rent or borrow a movie projector with HDMI connectivity. Ideally, you’ll want one that is rated 2,000+ lumens for proper brightness. Prices range widely for projectors, but you can snag one online for as little as $100.
  • Screen: You’ll need a smooth, flat surface on which to project your movie. You can go simple (the side of your house or a doubled up white sheet hung from a clothesline) to more deluxe (a souped-up DIY screen that you build yourself, or an inflatable or foldable screen that you buy or rent). The choice is yours!
  • Laptop with speakers: You’ll need a laptop that plays DVDs (preferably Blu-ray) along with plug-in, portable speakers.

2.Pick the Right Movie

Choose a family-friendly, age appropriate flick that benefits from a “big screen” format. A few of our favorite picks across different categories.

  • Recent Animated Movies: Finding Dory, The Secret Life of Pets, Trolls, Zootopia
  • Live Action Fairytales: Maleficent, The Princess Bride, Enchanted, Beauty and the Beast
  • Hollywood Classics: E.T., The Karate Kid, Star Wars, Harry Potter

3.Set the Scene

Add some drama with details and décor to fit the theme. Remember: you can go as simple or as elaborate as you’d like depending on your schedule, budget or level of craftiness. Either way, your event will be a smash hit!

  • Invitations: Send invitations that double as “tickets” that can be collected as guests arrive.
  • Seating: Pepper your lawn with blankets, pillows, and a few low-back beach chairs for comfy seating options. If you’re feeling especially creative, build “cars” out of cardboard boxes so that the littlest movie-goers can have a drive-in experience.
  • Decorations: Hang paper lanterns from the trees or string up twinkly lights to illuminate walkways. Have the kids make a giant poster board sign welcoming everybody to your family “theater.”
  • Accessories: Hand out festive glow necklaces and bracelets to the kiddos to help them navigate in the dark. Put out some potted citronella plants and have natural bug repellent on hand in case mosquitoes try to crash your party.

4.Serve Cinema Snacks

It wouldn’t be a movie without the snacks, now would it? We say resist the urge to grill or cook, and keep it simple with easy-grab, concession-style munchies both kids and adults will love.

  • Popcorn: We love the look of an old-fashioned popcorn machine. You can buy one quite reasonably nowadays, or even rent one from a local vendor. Alternatively, simply make some microwave popcorn and serve it in individual red-and-white striped popcorn boxes or bags. Try a sweet-meets-salty flavor combination by mixing popcorn with Go Organically Organic Fruit Snacks.
  • Concession Stand: Set up a table off to the side to serve as a concession stand for drinks, candy and other snacks. Serve organic juice boxes and water for the kids and a variety of beverages for grownups.
  • Snack Trays: In lieu of a concession stand, make individual snack trays for each moviegoer using plastic bento boxes or dollar store shower caddies. Fill the largest compartment with popcorn and the small compartments with convenient single-serve snacks, such as gluten free fruit snacks from Go Organically.

Enjoy the show!

Have the Perfect Picnic

Posted on May 13, 2017 in kids Reviews

Go On a Family Picnic Today

Picnic day was April 23, did you go on your picnic?  If not, take one soon.  You will love the fresh air, and the good foods I’m talking about in this post.  It’s inexpensive, and the person you plan it for, will love it.

explore-cuisine

Explore Cuisine is the perfect addition to any picnic.  The Bean Pasta is delicious, and it is quite filling, as well.  I love everything about it, and have even bought some, since my picnic (April 23).  The pasta is quite tasty, with a great texture.  Making you get filled on just a little.  It’s perfectly put in a container, and travels quite well.

sparkling-ice-1

Sparkling Ice is the perfect beverage, for your picnic.  My 5 year old loves it so much, we just bought another case last night.  His favorite is the Raspberry.  I love all the flavors, I’m not as picky as my five year old.  He is so infatuated with the Raspberry, that he won’t touch any other flavor.  My husband even takes a case to work, to have for his guys.  One bottle will go a long way.  It’s the perfect size, and inexpensive (I found at Walmart for $1 a bottle).

go-organically-1

Go Organically Fruit Snacks are a great snack for a perfect picnic.  These fruit snacks are delicious, and loved by the kids I shared them with.  My 5 year old, and his friends couldn’t get enough of the Go Organically Fruit Snacks.  They always go over well.  My favorite is the tropical.  I even send these as a treat in my son’s lunch.  And, my 19 year old, daughter, loves them too.  She takes them to college, to eat when she needs a snack.

little-kernel-popcorn

The Little Kernel Popcorn is another great snack.  We took this on our picnic, and it was gone in minutes.  Everyone loved this popcorn.  Great addition to any party, or picnic.  The flavors are so unique, and the popcorn tastes delicious.

I have 4 Great Activity Ideas from Go Organically Snacks, and a Chance to Win

Posted on April 29, 2017 in Giveaways

Spring outdoor activity ideas from Go Organically®Organic Fruit Snacks

Ahhh, spring. Warmer weather, flowers in bloom, and a chance to rediscover the joys of the great outdoors after several months of hibernation (and the occasional binge-watch). Need another reason to get moving? May is National Physical Fitness and Sports Month—which makes it the perfect time to renew your commitment to a healthy, active lifestyle while inspiring your kids to do the same.

Studies show that kids need 60 minutes or more of physical activity each day. So lace up those sneakers, stretch out those limbs, and head outdoors to try one of these fun-filled family activity ideas from Go Organically® Organic Fruit Snacks.

1.       Gear Up

Make sports equipment easily accessible so you’ll be more likely to use it. Park bicycles near the front of your garage, or keep scooters in the mudroom to inspire impromptu usage. Stash a Frisbee or soccer ball in your car for pick-up games, or “catch up” on the day while playing a quick game of catch in the evenings. The idea is to integrate activity into your everyday life so it becomes a part of your routine.

2.       Play Nature Bingo

Which family member has an eagle eye for spotting things like squirrels, ant hills or pine cones? To find out, head to your local park—or simply your own backyard—and play an active yet educational game of Nature Bingo. Print out a free online template (we like these for their earthy feel) and try to find as many items as you can, marking off each square as you go. Be sure to fuel your adventure with fun snacks for kids and adults, including trail mix, fruit, and our favorite grab & go treat, Go Organically Organic Fruit Snacks.

3.       Embrace Old School Games

When we were kids, it was all about classic backyard games like Freeze Tag, Simon Says and Hide-and-Seek. Our favorite? Red Light/Green Light. One child acts as the “stoplight” and stands with his or her back to the crowd across the yard from the other kids. When the stoplight shouts “green light,” the kids move forward and try to be the first to touch the stoplight. At any point, the stoplight may shout “red light!” and turn around. If any of the players are caught moving, they’re out.

4.       Take a Walk

It sounds so simple, but sometimes it’s nice to get back to basics with regular family walks. Take the dog out together in the morning instead of making it a one-man job. Or work off dinner by hitting the pavement as a family for a sunset stroll. It’s a great way to discover your surroundings, get to know your neighbors, and enjoy quality time as a family while burning off energy. We always bring along reusable water bottles and easy-to-tote Go Organically kids organic snacks to keep everyone smiling.
